And that means it's time for bike racing! But before I talk about the latest races, I should talk a little about my winter.
After cylocross nationals in December, I took a few weeks off the bike and enjoyed some days out on the cross country skis. Okay, so the ski season did suck this year, but I still had a lot of fun skiing with friends and improving my technique. I raced twice, a 30k in Winthrop and a 50k at Cabin Creek(near Snoqualmie Pass). I've really grown to love skate skiing! It's way cheaper than downhill and is incredibly challenging, both physically and technically. I'm pretty sure I will still be learning and improving in 20 years!
Come the end of January and I was back on my bike putting in base miles. This is my first year that I have followed a structured training plan and it seems to have worked out well, as I've had a good season so far. Russell Stevenson and CyclingNorthwest have really helped improve my riding a lot. Thank you!
Being back in school at WWU, I decided to race the collegiate road conference this year. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed racing collegiate since 2007. The atmosphere is so much more relaxed and fun than USCF road races (if that wasn't already obvious...). After our final race weekend, I had earned 2nd place overall and 1st out of the Division II riders. To add to that sweetness, I'll get the call ups as NWCCC champion at nationals this weekend in Madison, WI! Should be a fun trip!

Thanks for the photo Deanna!
