On November 29th, the Seattle Cyclocross Series was wrapped up with the eighth and final race. Going into this this event in Monroe, incredibly, there was a four-way tie for points between Toby Swanson(Benaroya Research Institute), Steve Fischer(Rad Racing NW), Zach MacDonald(Classic Cycles/Stevens), and myself. With Zach away at a world cup in Belgium, the battle was left to Toby, Steve, and I.
Toby and myself before the start.
Toby and I had a season-long goal to take the top two spots in the series. With the points so close after eight races, I think we were both pretty nervous. I know I was. Relief came once the race started and I could focus on racing well and having fun. Toby rode incredibly strong, gapping the rest of us almost immediately and never looking back until the finish. I was excited to cross the line in 2nd place ahead of Steve, who raced strong and smart all season.

Success calls for celebration! Beers were consumed and good times were had. It's been a great cyclocross season! Just Nationals in Bend, then time to ski!
Another season comes to an end.
